Consequences of the pandemic caused by COVID-19 disease.
The consolidated financial figures largely reflect the Group’s investments and their returns in the operational sector “Pleasure boats without permanent crew”. Due to the outbreak of the pandemic caused by COVID-19 disease restrictive measures in tourism activity that concerned both locals and foreign visitors, were imposed in all geographical areas in which the Group serves charterers. The majority of customers in the aforementioned operating sector come from European countries, which in the first 9 months of 2020 showed a high increase in household savings. Taking into account the above-mentioned and the financial data of the first 9 months of 2020, a decrease is expected in the year 2020 compared to the year 2019 in the Revenue from sales of brand-new yachts, in the Revenue from invoiced charter contracts of privately used yachts and in the Revenue from charter brokerage. These revenues in total are accounted for 98,7% of the consolidated sales revenue for the year 2019. It is noted that the Parent Company and its subsidiaries from the time when COVID-19 disease appeared used all available means to ensure the health of their human resources and their customers, the adjustment of their expenditures to the respective income levels, the best possible management of their cash and raising external funds.
The vaccination of the population of the countries-markets that is expected to begin within the first quarter of 2021 is estimated to lead to a significant easing of the restrictive measures in tourism, increase the mood for travel and leisure and improve household economic expectations. The occurrence of these events will allow the gradual return of the Group’s financial performance to the pre-pandemic levels.
